A familiar sight in the hybrid ski boot category (thanks to a decade of iteration), the Cochise delivers all-round value in a lightweight and medium-stiff boot that's well-balanced in terms of on and off-piste performance. Tecnica's C.A.S. (Custom Adaptive Shape) system is well-respected for accommodating even the most tricksy of foot shapes, and the comfort levels are among the best in the business even straight out of the box. The dual density micro-cell liner material is designed to be less prone to pack-out, so in theory offers better longevity. The usual thermo-shaping is of course an option, as is the more involved punching and grinding options, and Tecnica also offer a fit kit to decrease volume, which offers another route to an excellent fit.
The T-Ride walk mechanism does a solid job of bridging the gap between resort and backcountry, offering a 75° range of motion. The light weight (1750g) is noticeable on the hill, especially on ascent, that lack of heft being aided by the Carbon Co-injected Back Spine construction. There's good lateral power transmission and fast dexterous edge to edge transition which Tecnica would undoubtedly argue is down to their 'revolutionary asymmetrical concept', which is down to differing thicknesses of material on the inside and outside of the shell.
Overall the Tecnica Cochise 110 DYN GW offers a soundly-priced and well-rounded hybrid that's smooth to operate and comfortable for long days - just not as aggressive as some.
