Our opinion of the Never Summer West is that it is a stallion of a board that once tamed, will let rip on the mountain as we discovered during our test.

The Never Summer West is ideal for aggressive riders and felt extremely stable at higher speeds. Not only that, the 'Ripsaw' Rocker profile gives this directional board a decent level of forgiveness and responsiveness so catching an edge never seemed an option. This is all because it is actually a Hybrid board with the rocker prominent in the middle and both ends, but with traditional camber underfoot.

The West offers the full résumé when it comes to carving turns. It has a sweet spot for those locked-in long sweeping turns, as well as short radius dialed in carves and everything else in-between.

The board had a snappy pop and is good for presses and butters and performs reasonably well in the park, especially on kickers.

Surprisingly, not the greatest performance in powder snow as it felt sluggish to us and didn't have enough float. It certainly noy just not the best feature of the board.

The West is not for beginners as you need that aggressive style to make the magic work - although a higher level intermediate rider may enjoy this board, it is best suited for advanced and expert snowboarders.
