The Never Summer Proto Type Two is certainly a step up from its predecessor and a pure joy to test out on features in the park.

The new Never Summer Proto Type Two is a continuation of the original Proto, but with more camber and with an asymmetrical shape - it's a combination of characteristics between the Never Summer Funslinger and Ripsaw.

The Ripsaw Rocker Camber profile of this board makes for an interesting ride, with the camber just under your feet - something we really enjoyed. The Proto Type Two is a great board to carve with for both big radius and short, responsive turns. The edge control is superb - with some boards there is a trait of having a little less control on the heel edge, but this snowboard feels effortless and initiates a nice pop out of the carves too.

It was able to deal with the soft uneven spring snow very well, but hardly a speed menace on the groomed straights. It was really stable over jumps and we would have loved to have checked it out in the pipe if given more time.

The Proto Type Two was fantastic in the park as it was good on boxes and rails as well as the kickers, but overall it lacked the playfulness and forgiveness to really improve on if you are a beginner, and because of this we would say this board is best suited for an intermediate or advanced rider
