The Bergans Fonna down jacket is one of our favourite bits of clothing so far this winter. Not only does it look great with its contrasting zips, it also does a top job of keeping you warm and well-armed for the slopes.
The outer fabric is breathable and windproof, whilst the Fonna is filled with high quality 750 fill power down – if this doesn’t keep you toasty not much will.
The features are really well thought out – the adjustable hood sits above a high microfleece lined collar which does a good job of keeping the lower part of your face warm, and I liked the asymmetrical full-length zip. There are also pit zips for when things start to warm up.
Outer zipped pockets consist of two handwarmers, one chest pocket and a lift pass pocket on the left sleeve; inside the jacket there’s a gigantic zipped inner pocket into which the whole jacket can be stuffed for storage – or whilst wearing it the pocket can be used for bulky items like goggles.
That the Fonna is designed for ‘proper’ winter use can be seen from the detachable powder skirt and with this in action along with the shock cord adjustable hem and Velcro adjustable cuffs you can effectively keep any sub-zero weather where it should be - outside. Lovely…
