TL;DR Review
A great choice if you like to bring fun to your ski attire, the Curved Ski Suit from OOSC, with its innovative curved cut, impressed us not only with its look, but also by keeping comfort as a priority.
Intro
UK brand, OOSC, are well known amongst skiers and boarders as bringing the retro fun back to the slopes in the form of bright colourways and bold patterns, while keeping the all-in-one ski suit as a staple of their product line. But it’s not all about the look. OOSC doesn’t shy away from backing up their signature styles with great technical features and eco-conscious materials.
Who is the Curved Ski Suit aimed at?
The Curved Ski Suit from OOSC is a new take on the classic ski suit, with a redesigned fit. The curved shape of the suit is perfect for those of us who’s body types don’t suit the straight cut of traditional suits.
OOSC Curved Ski Suit materials and their meaning
When you head out on the mountain you need to know that your gear will keep you protected from the elements, so let’s start with the basics. The Fall Line Curved Ski Suit has a waterproof and breathability rating of 10,000 / 10,000 – a solid base that will keep you dry in most conditions, but if you like to hit the slopes even on whiteout days, OOSC has ranges of even higher rated products to check out.
The Curved Suit also keeps you toasty with 80g of synthetic insulation, meaning that you shouldn’t need to go crazy with midlayering. In fact, we found the Curved Suit plenty warm enough just with baselayers underneath, so it’s a good idea to experiment to find what works best for you.
OOSC also makes good use of recycled materials in their gear, and this suit is no exception. All of their outerwear is made from recycled polyester, and each suit is made from at least 50 plastic bottles.
Style, fit and features
Let’s start with the obvious. In terms of style, OOSC can always be counted to bring the fun. The Curved Ski Suit is available in several attention-grabbing prints, from the more subtle lilac and grey stripes of the 'Fall Line', to the brightly mixed hues of the ‘Future Shock’. You’re sure to turn heads on the slopes no matter which design you pick.
However, regardless of how great you’ll look in the suit, the star of the show here is the fit. The Curved Ski Suit was specially designed to fit those of us who have a little more shape to our bodies than those that lend themselves to the more traditional straight cut of ski suits. The suit is cut with a curve (hence the name) around the hips to fit a fuller figure. As a size 14 skier, we love having this option of a little more room and find it really does make a difference in terms of fit and comfort, eliminating pulling or crinkling in weird areas. The elasticated waistbelt also helps you adjust the suit to fit you just right.
The suit also has taped seams and waterproof YKK zips (with hot pink zip pulls) to keep moisture out, shaped elbows and knees for improved freedom of movement, a fleece lined chin guard and a hood, which can be adapted to fit a helmet if required. There are also reenforced patches at the ankles, plus elasticated gaiters to keep the snow out, as well as inner wrist cuffs with thumb holes.
In terms of pockets, we have all the essentials: two thigh pockets, a lift pass pocket and breast pocket for your phone. The only inside pocket is a mesh drop pocket. We did find that the pockets are a little on the small side, so consider skiing with a backpack if you like to take bits and bobs with you.
Tester’s verdict
Overall we love the Curved Ski Suit from OOSC. The fact that the brand has really thought about the fit of this product and made the classic all-in-one style more comfortable for a wider range of body types gets the thumbs up from us.
Add in a great choice of colourways and the technical features to keep you protected on the piste, and you have a fun, great value choice for your skiwear this season.
