We liked the softness, flat seams, the funkier material patterns and the warmth and wicking performance.
They are not an option for a multiday ski tour trip due to the relaxed fit.

Available in pretty awesome cammo and cowboy patterns (and some more straight forward colours), the midweight baselayers from Burton are guaranteed to make an impression. Cool enough to be worn on the après terrace, cosy enough to double up as a fun pyjama set and functional enough to actually deliver on the mountain, they might just be the ultimate in first layer fun!

Warm, soft and nicely finished, don't expect the skin tight fit of high-tech merino or a body-mapping super tech layer with the midweights but do anticipate high style and decent functionality in equal measure.

In terms of performance, the crewneck version on test lasted a good couple of days without washing thanks to the AGION Stink-proof treatment. Features-wise, the thumb loops on the sleeves, UPF50+ protection and smooth non-chafing waist band all demonstrate a commitment to produce a capable, well-thought out baselayer that's about more than simple style. The only shortfall would be when we might be looking at long backcountry forays when they may become a little too warm and a touch heavy.

For cool days riding the lifts or as an outer on a spring day when building kickers, the Burton midweight baselayers are pretty impressive. Feel free to splash out for a merino alternative at nearly 3 times the price if you want but we guarantee you won't look as cool.
