Haslital lies in the geographical centre of Switzerland between Interlaken and Lucerne in the Eastern Bernese Oberland. The main resort of this area is Meiringen which is connected by rail from all the major Swiss Airports such as Berne, Zurich and Geneva.
Haslital sits within a quieter part of the Jung Frau region (Grindelwald, Murren and Wengen) and is a great destination for families and those seeking a less busy ski resort. This family friendly destination has ski slopes to suit all levels with 60km of prepared slopes up to 2,433m.
The lift system is modern and connects all the pistes well. From Meiringen, the route up to the Hasliberg ski area is via a modern cable car which takes around 5 minutes. The location of the cable car (Luft Seil Bahnen or air rope road) is near to the town centre (10 minute walk) or there is a half hourly free ski bus which is covered on the ski pass.
Mountain
Although 60km of prepared slopes sounds a little restricted, it does not feel this way with some good long runs to ensure a bit of thigh burn by the bottom. If the conditions are right, the off-piste looks excellent with lots available close to marked pistes to ensure it would be hard to get yourself lost.
Families
Haslital also offers a great learners area in ‘Skihasliland’ which includes a fun area for kids and easy to use carpet and rope lifts.
The resort itself claims Skihasliland to be one of the best areas in the Alps to learn to ski. It is located at the Bidmi mid-station in a safe area whcih is visible from the piste making it easy for parents to check on their kids. Apres
The town of Meiringen has plenty to do in the evenings with various bars and restaurants to ensure the day’s fun does not end at the bottom of the lift. There are also plenty of hotels and guest houses to choose from.
