The Salomon Super 8 has a relatively unique profile. Inspired by Salomon pro rider Wolle Nyvelt, famed for his surfy style, the Super 8 has a very wide rocker profiled nose, which lifts the board with ease out of even the heaviest and wettest powder snow. It's a dream when you stray off the piste into super dry powder, as it floats like a longboard on a super clean wave.
The Super 8's camber is located under the back foot; this allows for a real laid back style in the powder, but when ridden with aggression on a piste, it can lead to the nose getting a little twitchy and a possible loss of confidence when laying over a fast carving turn.
The Super 8 is also great in the park: its playful flex allows for soft landings from on high, and its sintered base can handle a near life-time on the rails. Whilst the Super 8 is most definitely directional, with a tapered tail 15mm thinner than its fat powder nose, riding and landing jumps switch still works surprisingly well.
In summary, the Super 8 is a mid-priced all mountain snowboard, that will allow you to ride powder with ease, hit the park and cruise the pistes - all for a lot less bucks than many of its competitors.
