If you’ve got a few quid to spend and want to buy a beautifully handcrafted all-mountain snowboard to be your one board to do it all then the West could be your new best friend.
Pronounced camber underfoot gives the West superb edge hold which lets you carve really aggressively without fear of washing out at speed. The sintered base is super fast and although it tends to need waxing more than some of the other boards on the market, when you do wax it well you’ll glide past other riders when they’ve stopped on the flat.
The wood core is nice and light and the internal dampening layers help reduce chatter in harder snow conditions. The West features a varied sidecut which as well as aiding edge hold also produces smooth turn initiation which makes it one of the nicest boards we’ve tested for simple carving pleasure.
VERDICT A great choice for experienced riders looking for one seriously good all-mountain snowboard to do it all.
