Although we did not have the best powder conditions to test this in, what we did have we concluded that despite it's size, it does have great float. Cruising around in the deep would be effortless.
This is because the Insta Gator is a directional, fusion profile of camber and rocker. The rocker is quite prominent in the middle and at the tip and tail, giving the board that beautiful lift, then the shallow camber underfoot for control. The board is also well set-back for the bindings.
Out on the groomers this board handles itself well at speed. It is very forgiving and not catchy at all, but it is quite a lively ride and not damp enough for riding uneven terrain all day.
Being directional, it is not a board that you would ride switch with, but it is one of the most playful freeride boards we have ridden. Especially if you want some mellow time messing around with butters and presses.
Carving is good if powered more from the back foot. Being short, it felt quite nimble and had good turn initiation.
Being Never Summer, this board has been built to last as if it had been made from steel forged in Mordor.
Not a heavy metal playing mountain slayer, the Never Summer Insta Gator brings back the fun to freeride boards.
