The Gnu Space Case was one of the best snowboards we tested during our on snow test week in Kaunertal, Austria. There's a playful elegance that makes it so much fun to ride, especially for jibbing and side hitting. With Gnu's patented Banana Technology, it has the original all-terrain Rocker/Camber Hybrid profile with a good flex. Despite the pliability, it is not too soft and as a result can initiate a decent and snappy pop.
So much more than just a jib board the Space Case needs to be let loose on the mountain. The asymmetrical and angular design gives a shorter heel side edge contact to combat heel drag and makes it almost impossible to catch an edge. More forgiving than the pope at Christmas, the board will encourage you to throw everything you have got at it.
In tracked out snow, the Space Case gives a mellow ride. Although the board has a rocker middle, it also has an elliptical traditional camber profile under the feet, giving good all round stability. The board is also extremely responsive with short and mid radius turns, locking in well for big carving. Turning in powder snow also seemed effortless, giving more of a playful floaty feel.
One other thing that deserves a mention is the incredible 'Moon Calendar' graphics, designed by Forest Bailey.
