The Salomon XDR 80 Ti is a great all-round ski, perfect for non-aggressive skiers who are looking to ski different terrain with a 50/50 split of piste and powder.
While at only 80cm at the waist, these skis are not lacking in width at both the tip and tail (127cm and 110cm) for the 176cm length. Combined with the slight tip and tail rocker, Salomon have found a way of giving good flotation in powder to all but the heavyweight Tyson Furys of the world.
A wider tip and tail combined with a narrow waist, obviously means a tighter radius. Anywhere between 12-15m depending on length, which is similar to a Slalom ski. Short turns on the piste are also made easier by the rocker technology, which allows for an easy pivot at the start of the turn.
The sandwich construction with wood core and titanium top sheet gives the skis great edge hold. However, while the rubber pulse-pad along edges of the ski really smoothes out the bumps and vibrations, it can make the skis feel a little less responsive at the end of the turn.
All in all a very popular ski with people who are looking to enjoy the mountain in all conditions, but not necessarily rip it to shreds.
