Having been disappointed in the past with how soft Salomon have made their advanced ski range for women, last year we were pleased to see that they did a complete 180 and developed the racier models. We went to Italy to test the 2020 W10s to see how they shaped up.

A race inspired rocket that gives you instant acceleration for laying down fast and precise carving turns
These skis are ferocious and stiff so you need the strength to tame them

The W10 is an inspired race ski that has been designed for a "recreational racer". Aspects of design and construction from Salomon's race range had been used in this ski, which means that unless you have been doing squats in the gym or have grown up ski racing, it's much better value for money to buy a pair of the W10's than it would be to buy a pure race ski.

We are thrilled to see Salomon release a stiffer women's specific ski for this season and loved testing this out in Pila. The Edge Amplifier is a highlight feature which provides a good level of stability and performance, so much so, that you can let yourself carve at a spine-chilling speed down the mountain and know your edges will hold even in icy conditions.

This technology really inspires confidence and can support you in making some supremely powerful turns. The Edge Amplifier, coupled with the mid-sized radius of the ski means you can ski high performance long and short turns with no compromise. In addition to this, Salomon's classic pulse pad underfoot helps to dampen vibrations and make a smoother ride even when you hit sheet ice or afternoon choppiness.

The name of the range really captures the high point of this ski in that you really can max out on your speed. These skis cost a little more than the average price of other women's skis in the market, but this is a premium model and you're paying for high performance.

If you are an advanced skier and enjoy the technical precision of piste skiing more than the floaty feeling of powder, then this is an ideal choice.
