Considering the width of ski under your boot (115mm), the Salomon Rockette is surprisingly versatile and responsive, even handling groomed snow conditions well enough to make some smooth carves when conditions off-piste aren’t up to much.
But despite their ability to handle red runs with ease, they are most at home in the deep powder and like to be skied hard.
They are at their best when skiing big wide open powder faces at high speeds and would suit an expert or professional female skier that enjoys ripping up the whole mountain, whilst spending most of the time off-piste.
The Rockette scored well in our 2013 on snow ski test, most notably for off-piste conditions and snow versatility.
If you like to ski groomed runs as well then you’d probably require another piste orientated or all-mountain ski to compliment this one, especially if you were out for a season, which if you ski on this, you are likely to be.
