The Nordica Dobermann Spitfire Pro is quite a mouthful to say, but then it's quite a lot of ski when you're putting it through its paces on the pistes.
Nordica has bred its pack of Dobermanns to encompass the full gamut of piste performance, taking in everything from swooping GS turns down to tight-turning slalom beasts that demand to be jinked from edge to edge.
Those specialist skis are generally for racers wanting a high-powered ride that meets International Ski Federation regulations.
The Spitfire Pro shares its DNA with those thoroughbreds, but combines a GS body with a slalom tip in a slightly toned-down package from the Austrian manufacturer's full-on race models.
But if that makes the Spitfire Pro sound like the mongrel of the litter then think again. For around £150 less than the top-end models, expert skiers get a front-side ride that benefits from much of the same World Cup technology and will pretty much perform any type of turn their heart desires.
A wood core sandwiched between two sheets of titanium means this ski is stiff, sturdy and so much fun to sling around the hardpack.
So treat your Dobermann Spitfire Pros well and give them lots of long runs in the fresh air. In return they'll love you back, guard you with fierce edge hold and show their super character. But they can be over-lively if not controlled properly - down boys, down!
