The new Pinnacle range from K2 comes in three different width sizes (95, 105 and 118 mm's). We tested the narrowest of the options, which like its two stablemates is designed for 'hard charging in soft snow' according to K2.
Since we had soft snow in the Austrian resort of Kuhtai it behove us to charge hard, as the ski demands. Did it work? Yes, we think it did.
The Pinnacle uses K2's Nanolite Konic Core, a lightweight, low density, aerospace grade composite in the centre, reinforced with denser wood and tough metal along the edges to give a lower swing weight at the same time as allowing it to bash through crud.
We found it worked fine in the soft, boot deep snow off the piste and was great fun to throw around on the un-groomed slopes, with excellent edge hold and a lively feel in both short and long radius turns.
To be perfectly honest for the deeper snow we'd probably have gone for the middle 105mm waist option had it been available for us to try, but the 95 is still a reasonably priced freeride ski that you'll enjoy using all over the mountain.
Ideal for seasonaires who want one ski to ride the mountain both on and off-piste.
