New for the 2016 season, this is part of K2's iKonic all mountain range which also comes in an 80mm width format - the difference being that the 85 Ti comes with a titanium plate that makes the skies stiffer and more inclined towards expert skiers.
The rather dull looks of the iKonic belie a ski with impressive all round performance. The skis are constructed with a flexible wood centre and reinforced wooden sides, with a titanium plate beneath the binding and along the outside edges, providing a combination of lightness and stiffness that makes the iKonic 85 Ti ideal for laying down some serious lines on piste; indeed, we scored it most highly for its carving and edge hold on the groomed slopes.
That doesn't mean they don't perform well as a freeride ski though - the 85mm waist means the ski can be coaxed through powder and crud without too much difficulty, and for us this was a ski that also scored highly on 'liveliness/responsiveness', both on and off-piste.
The iKonic 85 Ti and its smaller brother the 80 Ti are aimed firmly at expert skiers who will love the all-round responsiveness it offers, but don't fret if you're not at that level with your skiing yet as the iKonic 80 (non-titanium version) will also provide advanced skiers with similar performance - and at less cost.
