The Ranger was known as the Waitea in a former life, one of Fischer's most popular freeride skis.

In its new incarnation it's both stiff and light (hence the 'Ti' tag) and will appeal to the increasing number of skiers who want to try a bit of ski touring without splashing out on full-on touring skis.

Being light and stiff means the Ranger is pretty responsive, even in cruddy conditions, but edge hold is secure - as is stability at both high and low speeds.

You'll never find a ski that works in absolutely all conditions, but the Ranger certainly has a good crack at it and is worth checking out if, like our tester, you're a bit of a Jack of all trades and master of none.
