The Speed Zone range from Dynastar also includes the 12 and 16 versions previously tested and reviewed by the Snow Magazine test team. We have been impressed by both models and really enjoy their powerful yet forgiving nature.
But the Speed Zone 10 seriously divided opinion during our 2018 test and we struggled to understand why the skis performed so erratically. Our testers found a range of issues that manifested in different outcomes depending on the skier.
One tester found them hyper-responsive on turn initiation, eith them also oversteering out of the turn whilst another struggled to get them to turn in the first place - and then once they did they got spat out at the other end.
It didn't end there. We also found them lifeless and lacking in any playfulness, they scored about as low as you can go in this respect.
On a more positive note, some of our team persevered and got to grips with their nuances, finding that things improved with some stability at higher speeds and a solid edge grip through the turn.
Unfortunately, this time around the Speed Zone 10 didn't produce many laughs but don't write off the whole range based on one black sheep in the family.
