Dynastar introduced their all-mountain Legend line-up in 2018 - a series of freeride influenced, 5 point sidecut shaped skis designed to deliver a consistently fun ride across the mountain.
The Legend W84 is one of 5 skis in the women's Legend series and sits plum in the middle between the narrowest (75mm underfoot) and widest (96mm underfoot) offerings.
As such it's positioned right at the heart of this all-mountain pack and is likely to appeal to intermediate to advanced skiers who spend the majority of their time on piste but aren't afraid to nip off to the side if there's some fun and fresh to be found.
We were lucky enough to get our hands on the Legend W84 for a full day of ripping around the Austrian resort of Galtur at this year's SIGB Ski Test enabling us to really get a feel for how it performs in the widest possible range of conditions. From immaculate groomers to fresh powder, from sun affected off piste to chopped up bumps, we found the Legend W84 to be a more than capable player, if not a particularly exciting one.
The shape and rocker profile of the Legend W84 make for easy and smooth turn initiation and the Powerdrive construction helps you to stay on edge and drive through the whole turn. At 84mm underfoot it's not the widest ski so if you're hoping to spend lots of time in the powder you might want to size up and go for the Legend W88 or W96.
The overwhelming feeling was one of a comfortable ride - exactly what you want from an all-mountain ski. Consistent and reliable, the Legend W84 responded well across the board allowing us to apply power as required and back off when appropriate.
For £510 with bindings, you're getting a really solid ski that will allow you to consolidate existing skills and start to explore beyond your comfort zone if so desired.
