From the start we should point out that the Kiwi Thermic is as much a country walking jacket as a ski jacket, but for those who only occasionally clip into skis and don't need a bona-fide ski jacket it will do the job.
This is mainly because it offers a combination of Craghoppers' AquaDry waterproof/breathable fabric with warm synthetic insulation, thus keeping you comfortable in cold weather at a bargain price. However, this does mean you get extra weight and bulk with the jacket.
There's a detachable hood - we'd recommend taking it off for skiing as it doesn't offer great adjustability or peripheral vision - and the other main features include a high, microfleece lined collar, one small inner pocket and one larger inner pocket, which will hold an OS Map. Both have zips. There are four outer pockets - two chest, four hand - two of which are zipped, Velcro adjustable cuffs and adjustable waist and hem.
So, not one for the purists, but for weekend warriors on a tight budget who are looking for a jacket they can wear in town and country as well as on the mountains it's worth a once over.
