The lower part of the outer is vulcanised rubber, which is seam-sealed to a laced, waterproof, waxed canvas upper. This gives a tight fit around the shins- there's no flapping welly feel- so driving in them is surprisingly unproblematic, as is walking.
The recycled felt liner is cosy and rated to -40 degrees celsius, and while that might sound slightly doubtful, they really are well suited to standing around or walking all day in extreme cold and snow, without fear of cold toes.
The most surprising thing about this boot is its weight. At 623g they are far lighter than many am equivalently rugged waterproof hiking boot, and they are far warmer.
