The Schoffel Bern is aimed fair and square at piste skiers looking for something plain and workaday, with a narrower fit and relatively limited features.
This is no bad thing, mind; plain and simple is often the best option with ski wear, and Schoffel's 'Venturi' fabric that is used in the Bern does a good job of keeping you comfortable thanks to its waterproof, windproof, breathable and stretch qualities.
In addition all the seams are bonded and the Bern is also insulated, making it a good option if you feel the cold.
From the top the Bern comes with a sturdy pair of elasticated braces and rear bib; both of which can be detached if you prefer to wear a belt, which is provided for with decent-sized belt loops.
There are two zippered hand pockets and a zippered rear pocket on the right; none of these are very large but few people ski with their pant pockets crammed full of stuff, so this shouldn't be a problem. The knees are shaped and there are zippered and poppered cuff adjusters along with a small scuff guard and boot gaiters.
In use the fit is quite snug but the stretch of the Venturi fabric means this isn't an issue, and as a plain but effective and reasonably priced ski pant for piste cruisers the Bern is worth checking out.
