When these ski pants landed on our doorstep, they looked unremarkable. True, the fabric felt weighty yet supple and the quality was undeniable, but basically, they seemed to be fairly boring black ski pants. Oh, how wrong we were.
It's almost impossible to discern where the cutting-edge technology comes into play, but according to KJUS, these pants benefit from five technological developments, making them warm thanks to their Fast Thermo core, highly waterproof with 20K protection as well as being breathable and with great freedom of movement.
Pulling them on, we were immediately impressed by the length of the leg. At 5'10" we're used to having to wear pants loose to sit comfortably on the hips, but these fit like a dream. They come in short, medium and long so few women will struggle with the length of the leg.
They are described as medium rise, but we'd say they're more low-rise as far as most ski pants go, which will suit a lot of body shapes well. The tabs on the waist mean that they can be perfectly adjusted, and you can really feel the 3D stretch technology which results in zero restriction of movement- you barely know you are wearing them!
We tested a black pair, but there are nine other colours on offer including the more in-your-face fruity pink or Kjus orange for those who aren't interested in stealth on the slopes.
Lots of thought has gone into the practical design of these pants - the breathable fabric means that old-fashioned air vents have been avoided and the heavy duty, reinforced fabric in the lower parts (which is resistant to tears and abrasions) acts as a shield against tears caused by skis and lifts.
These are pretty much the perfect piste ski pants, although we can't help but wince at the price. £409 is a huge investment, but if you ski often, value utterly unhindered movement, durability and a cute bum, then these could very well be the pants for you.
