Sit down, take a deep breath and chill as you take in the eerie tranquility of Alex Pashley's slow but somehow mesmerising descent through a deserted Colorado forest on a bindingless pow surf board. In a welcome departure from the usual hard-charging, fast paced action 'Pow Surf 101’ features a continuous shot of Alex carving through the forest, captured by Ryan Cruz and put together by filmmaker, Kurtis Jackson.
What is 'pow surfing'?
First introduced around a decade ago (but ironically harking back to the grass roots of snowboarding) and slowly gaining in popularity, pow surfing is inspired by skateboarding, surfing and snowboarding. To put it simply, it's snowboarding in deep powder without the bindings. Respected website powsurf.com claim that pow surfing is '...the Purest Form of Mountain Riding On Earth'. Sounds good to us.
