Despite the contraction of the UK ski market over the past few years, interest in skiing Japan seems to keep increasing with the Ski Club of Great Britain announcing new packages there this winter while specialist ski tour operator W&O Travel Ski Dream is offering the previously little covered resort

of Hakuba for the 2010/11 season.
Hakuba is in a prime location just 2.5 hours from Tokyo on the bullet train, at the heart of a former Olympic resort with over 200 runs. Hakuba boasts the steepest runs of Japan's 600 ski resorts, and staged the Super-G, down hill, and ski jumping during the 1998 Winter Olympics. Australian-owned, The Ridge Hotel and Apartments offers Western-style accommodation and is just 200 meters from Happo One's main chair lift. Surrounded by restaurants, bars, shops and Onsens, the hotel offers the ideal base to explore the resort.

Hakuba is one of eight new resorts and 34 new properties W&O Travel Ski Dream has added to its programme in Europe, North America and Japan this season. The company has been offering luxury bespoke ski holidays worldwide for the past 30 years.

Also new for the company is snowsure Obergurgl in Austria; the chic resort of Cortina D'Ampezzo in Italy; The Paradiski resorts of La Plagne and les Arcs in France and some interesting new options in the US. On the East Coast rapidly expanding Jay Peak in Vermont, and on the west Northstar at Tahoe which is enjoying the fruits of a major investment programme which has seen a luxury Ritz Carlton Highlands hotel open there last winter; as well as The Canyons resort by Park City in Utah which is also undergoing significant upgrades for the coming winter.
