The Lake Tahoe basin recieved a battering over the weekend with a reported 32" of snow falling at the summit at Kirkwood!  This weeks sunny weather has made for perfect bluebird powder days and an epic start to the season in the seven Lake Tahoe resorts currently open.

Closer to home, the Austrian resort of Obertauern got 20cm of freshies over the weekend with other resorts in the Arlberg ski area recieveing a moderate 10cm dusting, replenishing the pistes and providing that vital extra bit of ground cover.

France remains sunny but the pistes in many of the resorts are still providing favourable skiing conditions thanks to heavy dumps of snow in November and early December.  The 3 valleys resorts of Meribel, Val Thorens, and Courchevel are all reporting around a metre at the summit and a good base of snow at resort level allowing skiing right down to the resorts.

More Swiss resorts opened over the weekend with Saas Fee, Andermatt, Gstaad, and Zermatt all reporting around two metres of snow at the summit.  Conditions are hard packed and the skies are clear and sunny.

The sunny weather looks set to continue throughout this week without any significant snowfall predicted in any of the major European, Canadian or American resorts.  As we're all too aware sunny skies and no snow means that conditions can deteriorate rapidly, so keep your fingers crossed for the snow gods to open up our skies and coat our beautiful mountains with the soft white stuff again soon!
