The 27 March challenge will focus on the green, blue or red pistes which run adjacent to La Tania’s main gondola, dropping from a height of 1,900m to 1,368m.
Average skiers can ski the height of Everest comfortably in 6-7 hours skiing, and the warm-up event on the 26th will allow participants to ski the height of Mont Blanc which involves 3-4 hours skiing. The 3 Valleys ski app will log the distances covered and certificates will be given out to people who complete one of the challenges.
Skiers and boarders can register for free up until Monday 24 March. Alternatively, you can register on the morning of the challenge days at the reception of the Hotel Montana - located near the bottom of the main gondola lift.
Ski 4 Cancer is encouraging people to register early to give them time to collect sponsorship from friends, family and work colleagues. To enter, simply complete the registration form at www.ski4cancer.org/ski-challenge-france
It is hoped that skiers and boarders from resorts across the 3 Valleys will join in. Alpine Elements are currently offering a week’s stay in La Tania, staying at the Hotel Montana (23-30 March) for only £715pp (including lift pass, flights, transfers and half-board catered accommodation). You can get an additional 5% discount when using the discount code ‘ski4cancer’ at the time of booking.
James Hardiman, managing director of both Alpine Elements and iGOSKI explained, ‘My mother had cancer about 25 years ago and ever since I have been a passionate supporter of cancer-related causes. Ski 4 Cancer do some excellent work and I’m delighted that Alpine Elements and iGOSKI are able to sponsor this event.’
