avalanche awareness lecture posterFollowing on from last year’s sell out tour, tonight sees the first in a series of the North Face avalanche talks. Organised by the Ski Club of Great Britain, in association with North Face and Snow+Rock, the talk will last for around three hours and will be held in Snow+Rock shops across the country.
The lectures will again be delivered by James Morland, a Canadian Avalanche Association Level 2 professional with more than 15 years experience of avalanche related work. He is the founder of Elemental Adventure (EA Heliskiing) and has skied extensively in many exciting locations around the world. All proceeds from the lectures will go to Disability Snowsport UK. In 2011 the lecture series raised nearly £2,500 for the charity.

Here’s what participants had to say: “Excellent. It doesn’t matter what level you are – aspiring or veteran – you’ll certainly take a lot away from the talk. The multi-media delivery, real-life examples, great pictures and videos made it a really memorable experience. And that’s the point right? To be safer backcountry you need to remember what to do when it goes wrong or better still, avoid getting into a pickle in the first place.”
