As of December 11, 2016, budget airline Easyjet will start running weekly direct flights from London Gatwick to Åre Östersund in the north of Sweden, from which it’s just over an hour’s transfer to Åre ski resort. Starting from £30.49 each way, the flights will operate weekly on a Sunday, with the last flights returning on 16th April.
Åre Östersund is located in the northern Swedish region of Jämtland Härjedalen, a well-established hub for winter sports enthusiasts, foodies and nature lovers all year round.
The world-class and trendy ski resort of Åre offers some of Europe’s best skiing and snowboarding, with wide untracked slopes, great après-ski, and superb accommodation options ranging from cosy apartments through to designer hotels and even mountain igloos!
For families, Sweden’s third largest ski resort and family favourite Vemdalen is just 1.5 hours away and serviced by a new transfer which takes passengers along the shores of Storsjö Lake and then up into the Härjedalen mountains, before arriving at Skalets Square in Vemdalen. The transfers will be synchronised with easyJet’s arrivals and departures, making the area especially accessible for skiers from the UK, and will launch on 4 November. Prices start from 360 SEK (£33) per adult and 180 SEK (£15) per child based on a single ticket.
