As we all know, it's important to get a good solid base of snow early season to ensure a great outlook for the season ahead. Many of the top resorts around the world have already reported big snowfalls and, coupled with ongoing cold weather and further dumps of snow making for great conditions on the slopes, many have opened their doors to the punters early.

The 2013/14 ski season officially started in Les 2 Alpes on Saturday 30 November. With 1.50 m of snow at 3,000m and 40cm in the resort, the lifts opened this weekend with outstanding snow coverage.

Whistler mountain has had an especially early season start, opening its doors on November 16th with Blackcomb Mountain and the Peak 2 Peak Gondola having followed suit on the 28th November.

Cervinia is reporting a snow depth of 45cm at resort level and a hefty 185cm at Plateau Rosa (3480m). The resort is officially open for business (albeit in slightly limited capacity) with the Goillet, Bontadini, Fornet, and Plan Maison chairlifts all running.
